This all-purpose exercise is the king of the lower body. Squats work the quads, butt, hamstrings, calves, and abs. Make sure you keep your knees positioned over your toes to keep from harming your knees. To get the full benefit of squats, get low enough that your upper legs are parallel to the floor.

Bench pressing is the squats, in other words king, of upper body exercises. Bench pressing will work the chest, shoulders, triceps, and the abs a bit.

Pull ups work the back, biceps, shoulders, and the core. They help widen the back, which will make the waist look smaller.
